The short version

Playrest is built to collect as little as possible. The generated app runs on your device and does not track you.

What we take in

The character sheet you upload. We use it to build your companion, then delete it within 48 hours. Your finished app is hosted at a private link for up to 48 hours so you can download it — after that it’s deleted from our systems and lives only on your device.

What your companion does

Runs entirely offline, on your device. No account, no login, no tracking, no data sent anywhere once you’ve downloaded it.

What you’re responsible for

The material you upload. By using the tool, you confirm you have the right to use that character data for your own private, personal play.

What this is

An independent, unaffiliated tool. Not an official product, not endorsed by any game publisher, not a substitute for the rules. A private play aid, nothing more.

What you can expect from us

If a build fails you aren’t charged, and a completed companion that misses gets one free rebuild.

1What we collect

Your uploaded character sheet. Used only to generate your app. Held transiently and deleted after generation, within 48 hours.
Your email address, if you give us one when you start a build. Kept alongside your build for 48 hours so we can send you the completion email, then it expires automatically.
Payment information. Handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details; we do not store your full card number.
Basic technical data. Standard server logs (for example, page requests) to keep the site working. We run no analytics or tracking scripts.

2What we do with it

Generate your app and deliver it to you.
Process your payment and handle support or refunds.
Keep the site secure and functioning.

We do not sell your personal information.

3Third parties who help run Playrest

Payments (Stripe): your payment details go to Stripe, not to us; we see only what’s needed to deliver your purchase.
Infrastructure (Cloudflare): serves the site, stores your upload and your finished app during the 48-hour windows above, runs our bot check, and sends our emails.
Build execution (GitHub): your uploaded sheet is processed on a GitHub-hosted build machine during generation.
AI model provider (Anthropic): your uploaded character data is processed to generate your app under Anthropic’s commercial API terms.

4The generated app itself

Your downloaded app is a single file that runs entirely on your device. It has no account, no login, and makes no network calls — it does not send data anywhere or track you once downloaded.

5Retention

Uploaded sheets are deleted after your app is generated, within 48 hours. Your email address, if provided, is kept alongside your build for 48 hours to deliver the completion email, then it expires automatically. We retain minimal transaction records as needed for accounting, tax, and legal purposes.

If you email support (or when we send you your build), that correspondence — including your email address — is kept in our email system like any ordinary business mail. Payment records are kept as needed for accounting and fraud prevention.

6Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal information we hold. Because we retain very little and delete uploads after generation, there is usually little to act on — but you can contact support@playrest.app with any request.

7Children

Playrest is not directed to children and is intended for users 18+ (or the local age of majority). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8Security

We use reasonable measures to protect data in transit and at rest, and we minimize what we hold. No system is perfectly secure.

9Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted with a revised effective date.
