Privacy Policy

1What we collect

• Your uploaded character sheet. Used only to generate your app. Held transiently and deleted after generation, within 48 hours.
• Your Genesis idea, requirements and clarification answers. Used to create your character and, if you purchase it, its matching Companion. Separate request and generation-checkpoint records expire from active storage within 48 hours. The accepted character itself preserves your original idea.
• Private purchase access. We store a protected identifier for your private purchase link and use a secure browser cookie to restore access. Your browser may remember the purchase identifier. No Playrest account is required; anyone with the complete private link can open the purchase.
• Your email address, if you give us one when you start a build. Kept alongside your build for 48 hours so we can send you the completion email, then it expires automatically.
• Payment information. Handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details; we do not store your full card number.
• Basic technical data. Standard server logs (for example, page requests) to keep the site working. We run no analytics or tracking scripts.

2What we do with it

• Create your character, generate your app and deliver the files you purchased.
• Process your payment and handle support or refunds.
• Keep the site secure and functioning.

We do not sell your personal information.

3Third parties who help run Playrest

• Payments (Stripe): your payment details go to Stripe, not to us; we see only what’s needed to deliver your purchase.
• Infrastructure (Cloudflare): serves the site, stores your uploaded sheet, Genesis purchase records and delivered files during the stated retention windows, runs our bot check, and sends our emails.
• Build execution (GitHub): your uploaded sheet or Genesis character request is processed on a GitHub-hosted build machine during generation.
• AI model provider (Anthropic): your uploaded character data or Genesis idea and relevant requirements are processed to create your output under Anthropic’s commercial API terms. The Companion for an already accepted Genesis character is assembled from that character without a further model call.

4The generated app itself

Your downloaded app is a single file that runs entirely on your device. It has no account, no login, and makes no network calls — it does not send data anywhere or track you once downloaded.

5Retention

We keep your uploaded character sheet for at most 48 hours — long enough to build your companion, then it's deleted. Your finished companion stays available at its private link for 12 months; the file itself is yours to download and keep. Want anything deleted sooner? Email us and we'll remove it.

For Genesis purchases, both delivered PDFs and the accepted character are available for one year (365 days) from delivery. A separately purchased same-character Companion has its own year from its delivery. We retain the accepted character as long as it is needed for either purchased product. The accepted character includes your original idea; deleting separate request and checkpoint records within 48 hours does not remove those words from the character you chose to keep.

Your downloaded copies remain on your device until you delete them. Cloudflare recovery backups may retain earlier data for up to 30 days after removal from active storage. Minimal purchase, payment and usage records remain as needed to reconcile payments and handle accounting or support; they do not preserve separate raw generation checkpoints.

Your email address, if provided, is kept alongside your build for 48 hours to deliver the completion email, then it expires automatically. We retain minimal transaction records as needed for accounting, tax, and legal purposes.

If you email support, when we send you your build, or when our systems flag a build for a human to check on, that correspondence — including your email address — is kept in our email system like any ordinary business mail. Payment records are kept as needed for accounting and fraud prevention.

If you're waitlisted because we're at capacity, we keep your email address for up to 7 days so we can let you know when a slot opens — used once for that purpose, then deleted.

6Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal information we hold. Contact support@playrest.app with a request; retention periods are described above.

7Children

Playrest is not directed to children and is intended for users 18+ (or the local age of majority). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8Security

We use reasonable measures to protect data in transit and at rest, and we minimize what we hold. No system is perfectly secure.

9Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted with a revised effective date.
